Ester 4th of July Parade and Potluck Pig Roast

Interior Alaska’s quirkiest way to celebrate Independence!

THE PARADE:
The parade begins at the corner of Ester Loop and Main Street, progresses down Main Street to the Judges’ stand (across from the Golden Eagle Saloon) then follows Village Road to the Old Nenana, past the post office to the park. Sign-up and line-up at 11 a.m. Marching begins at noon! (Bribes for judges are strongly encouraged!)

THE PIG
We recently built and tested a new Cuban-style roaster and it is incredible!! Thanks to a generous donation we will once again feature a delicious pig with this year’s picnic/potluck.

THE POTLUCK & PICNIC
The potluck is a critical fundraiser for the Ester Community as well as a great way to picnic. Bring generously sized potluck items to the community park immediately following the parade. In addition to a truly incredible pig, the ECA provides burgers and dogs. Donations above costs support the Ester Community Park purchase and operation! Suggested donations are $5 kids, $15 adults, $35 family.

Looking for something lighter? We have limited items available a la carte. Skip the food line and head straight to the grill for:
Hamburger -$4
Hot dog – $2
Water/Soda – $1

THE PICNIC, MUSIC & GAMES
There will be live music and a great field to enjoy picnicing and games. Planning to bring your own food instead of potlucking? Please consider leaving a donation in the “appreciation station” by the gazebo to help support the park which offers such enjoyment for so many families for all these years. Or branch out this year and participate in the community potluck. The more who participate the better it is for all!

MEMBERSHIP
The Fourth of July is a great time to contribute to the community by becoming a member of the Ester Community Association. Annual membership is $10, or $25 family.

VOLUNTEER
Want to help? Send an e-mail to [email protected] and the volunteer coordinator will help line out ways you can help including set-up, food table management, grill mastering, clean-up and other duties. Thanks!

Ester Park Clean-up Day

Help us keep the Ester Community Park the best in town!

2017 Park Clean-up list

Every year there’s a list of a range chores for volunteers of all ages and abilities.

It’s “that time of year” again! Time to get our Ester Park all cleaned up and ready for a busy summer of outdoor activities! Ester park cleanup day will be on Saturday May 18th from 10-4(?). This is a great day to bring the entire family out and spend some time helping with the annual chores of raking leaves, general cleanup, stage prep, weed whacking, sweeping the basketball court, tree trimming, painting and organizing. I will have a list posted on the shed, and you can pick the job that suits you (and your kids) best! We will have hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch, along with beverages available for all that volunteer. This is always a fun day of working together as neighbors to help make our Ester Community Park the awesome place we all love! Look forward to seeing you… the park czar.

Become a 2019 Mortgage Meeter!

Help Ester Community Association meet its monthly mortgage on the Ester Community Park.

Ester Park has a monthly mortgage of $439.34 which adds up to $5272.08 per year. If 44 people would each pay $10 per month or $120 per year the mortgage would be covered!

Mortgage Meeters are a special group of friends whose support we can count upon. With most of the mortgage covered we may turn our attention to fundraising for park maintenance and improvement. We are very proud of our stage and its improved electrical system, our new ice surfacing machine, and other improvements to our field, playground, and sanitation. This park truly belongs to the people of Ester and is the result of their countless hours of volunteer labor.

If you wish to be a 2019 Park Mortgage Meeter please mail Mortgage Meeter app 2019 with your donation to ECA MORTGAGE MEETER, BOX 14, ESTER AK 99725.

Donations are fully tax deductible and a receipt will be mailed to you.

Thank you for your support.
